Max Eberl worries about growing greed in football.

Max Eberl admits there are concerns about the lavish spending in football and its long-term impact. Bayern Munich sporting chief executive Max Eberl has expressed concerns about the growing greed in football. And the potential for serious damage to the sport in the future. Mundo Deportivo reported on Sunday.

Eberl has been candid about Kylian Mbappe’s move, although the 25-year-old joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, the deal is worth around €300m in signing-on bonuses and wages over the player’s five-year contract.  UFABET

The Bavarian club’s executives are particularly concerned about the financial extravagance and its potential impact on the long-term integrity and sustainability of football.

‘If all the money is spent, at some point we will have nothing left to survive on,’ Eberl said. ‘You can get greedier, but everyone who gets greedy is slowly becoming the nail in football’s coffin.’

‘We’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s too much, and at some point you feel like it’s going to explode.’

Eberl believes that if this trend continues, it could prompt significant engagement from outside bodies, such as Saudi Arabia, which could destabilise the football industry.

‘At some point, it will become too saturated and Saudi Arabia will come in. That doesn’t feel good to me, I have to say that to be fair, but that’s the market right now.’

‘The money is leaving the market. There is no benefit for the club from this. The players, their families, their agents, everyone benefits, but not the club.’

‘At least the clubs have benefited in the past. The money is still in the cycle and that will gradually decrease.’
